Nebraska continues to add prime-time appearances to its 2014 football schedule. BTN announced its schedule of 2014 evening telecasts on Tuesday, including Nebraska’s games against Illinois and at Northwestern.
The Huskers will play host to Illinois on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Memorial Stadium with kickoff set for 8 p.m. CT. The Huskers’ contest against Illinois will also mark Nebraska’s 2014 Homecoming game.
The meeting with Illinois will mark the second of back-to-back prime time games at Memorial Stadium. The Huskers’ Sept. 20 matchup with Miami will be televised by ABC, ESPN on ESPN2 with kick time set for 7 p.m. Nebraska has a history of success in night games in Lincoln, posting a 39-5 all-time record in Memorial Stadium night games, including a current streak of 13 straight victories.
The second BTN prime time game for Nebraska in 2014 will be an Oct. 18 visit to Evanston, Ill., to take on the Northwestern Wildcats. Kickoff from Ryan Field is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
Nebraska and Northwestern have played close games each of the Huskers’ first three years in the Big Ten. The three games have been decided by a total of seven points, including a 29-28 Nebraska victory at Ryan Field in 2012.
The announcement of two BTN night games on Tuesday gives Nebraska five consecutive prime time games during the 2014 season. Nebraska will play at Fresno State on Sept. 13 (9:30 p.m. CT, CBS Sports Network), then plays host to the consecutive home night games against Miami and Illinois. The stretch concludes with an Oct. 4 game at Michigan State (7 p.m. CT, ABC/ESPN/ESPN2) and the Huskers’ trip to Northwestern.
The five-game stretch of night games will be Nebraska’s longest since also playing five straight night games during the 2006 season.
