Lincoln - Steffi Neisen joined an elite list in Nebraska history when she was named an All-American Scholar for the fourth time in her career by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) on July 2.

Neisen who completed her senior season for Coach Robin Krapfl's Huskers in 2013-14, became the fifth Nebraska women's golfer to earn four WGCA Scholastic All-America awards in her career. Neisen joins former Huskers Madeleine Sheils (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012), JC Stevenson (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010), Allison Stewart (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) and Jackie Beste (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006) in that distinguished group.

Neisen, who was a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and three-time academic All-Big Ten selection was also a three-time Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner for the Big Red. She was a six-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and earned a prestigious Nebraska Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award in 2013. She was also an inaugural member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2014.

Neisen was also a standout on the course. The four-year starter from New Prague, Minn., produced the sixth-best career stroke average (77.25) in Nebraska history, including a school-record round of 66 at the 2012 Mountain View Collegiate. She produced 13 career top-25 tournament finishes, including six career top-10 showings for the Huskers.

Nebraska has produced at least one WGCA All-American Scholar since the award's inception in 1989. The Huskers rank among national leaders with 65 all-time WGCA All-American Scholars.

In order to earn WGCA All-American Scholar status, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50. A total of 664 women's collegiate golfers across NCAA Division I, II and III earned the honor in 2013-14.
