2017: Robbie Palkert (pronounced PAL-kurt) was a key contributor to the Husker bullpen in 2017, making 24 appearances, the second-most among all Husker pitchers • His 41.1 innings pitched were the second-most among all Husker relievers, behind Chad Luensmann (43.1) • Recorded the most strikeouts among non-starters (39) • Earned two saves and compiled a 2.61 ERA • Career-high six strikeouts on June 2 in Nebraska’s NCAA Regional game against Yale • Tossed 2.0 scoreless innings in his season debut on Feb. 17 against UC Riverside • Recorded four strikeouts at Penn State on May 18, when he pitched 2.0 innings • Earned a save on March 25 at Cal Poly in 0.2 scoreless inning • Didn’t allow a run in his first four appearances of the season, which spanned 7.0 innings from Feb. 17 to March 7.
2016: Palkert contributed to the Husker bullpen as a true freshman in 2016, as he tossed 25.0 innings over 16 relief appearances • Finished the year with a 2.88 ERA and one save, while striking out 19 and walking seven • Struck out 12 and walked three over 12.1 innings in six appearances during Big Ten play • Made his Husker debut at College of Charleston on Feb. 21 and tossed a scoreless inning of relief • Didn’t give up an earned run until his fourth appearance of the season • Tossed 12.0 straight scoreless innings over five appearances from April 15 through May 8 • First career save came at Rutgers on April 30 when he ended the first game of a doubleheader with 3.0 shutout frames • Struck out a season-high four batters at Michigan over 3.0 innings on April 15.
Before Nebraska: Palkert came to Nebraska from Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minn. • Went 3-4 on the year and posted a 2.70 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 48.0 innings of work • Tossed a no-hitter with eight strikeouts against Edina on May 15, 2015 • Played summer ball for the Hopkins Flyers • Was 3-1 with a 1.69 ERA in 2015 with 40 strikeouts in 30.0 innings of work • Ranked by Perfect Game as the No. 10 player in the state of Minnesota and the No. 7 right-handed pitcher in the state • Top-500 right-handed pitching prospect in the nation by Perfect Game.
