2018: Mike Waldron (pronounced WALL-drun) led the Husker pitching staff with 21 appearances, which included three starts on the mound • Went 2-2 with one save and compiled a 6.29 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 44.1 innings pitched • Came out of the bullpen for 2.1 innings at Illinois on May 17 and allowed one run • Tossed 2.0 scoreless innings of relief against Indiana on May 12 • Went 3.2 innings in the start at Creighton on May 8 and gave up two runs • Earned the win on April 26 against Nevada when he came out of the bullpen for 5.0 innings and allowed two runs, while recording three strikeouts and didn’t walk any batters • Earned a 3.0-inning save at Rutgers on April 21, allowing one run, after his brother Matt threw the first 6.0 innings • Recorded two strikeouts in 3.0 no-hit scoreless innings of relief against Kansas State on April 17 • Matched a career high with five strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief at Creighton on March 27 • Earned his first career win on March 14 when he threw 3.1 innings in the start against Northern Colorado, allowing only two hits and recorded five strikeouts • Threw 2.0 no-hit scoreless innings out of the bullpen with two strikeouts at Wichita State on March 4 • Tossed 1.2 scoreless innings of relief against No. 2 Oregon State on Feb. 22.
2017: Waldron played in 16 games, including 10 starts at third base • Batted .250 (9-for-36) with three runs scored, two RBIs and one double • Recorded hits in his first two outings of the season, against Oregon State on Feb. 23 and against Utah on Feb. 26 • First career multi-hit (2) and multi-run (2) game at Cal Poly on March 25 • Roped his first career double against Cal Poly on March 25 • Had one hit in each of his next two games against Kansas State (March 28) and Indiana (March 31).
2016: Waldron played in six games as a true freshman, including a start at Michigan State on May 8 • Hit .286 (2-for-7) in limited at-bats, scored one run and drove in a run • Made his Husker debut as a pinch hitter against Northern Colorado on March 8 • Recorded his first hit and scored a run against Northwestern on April 10 • Pinch hit at Creighton May 17 and plated a run with an RBI single.
Before Nebraska: Waldron joined the Huskers after a successful prep career at Westside High School in Omaha • Helped the Warriors win three straight Class A state titles in 2013, 2014 and 2015 • Drove in the eventual game-winning run with a sixth-inning double in the 2015 state title game, a 1-0 win over Millard South • Tabbed as the No. 4 right-handed pitcher in the state of Nebraska and the No. 12 overall player by Perfect Game • Was named an honorary captain of the Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska team in 2015 and was also a first-team Super State selection by the Lincoln Journal Star • Was a first-team selection by both publications as a sophomore, junior and senior • Was both a threat on the mound and at the plate • Posted a 4-2 record as a senior with a 1.94 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 39 innings • Hit .365 for the Warriors with 11 doubles, one home run and 32 RBIs • Hit .415 with runners in scoring position.
