2017: Joe Acker made 15 showings, including three starts in the outfield, during his first year at Nebraska • Hit .154 (2-for-13) with three runs scored and two RBIs • Made his Husker debut on March 4 against Arkansas, where he drew two walks and had an RBI • First start was the second game of a doubleheader at Cal Poly on March 25, where he went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI • Went 1-for-1 against Kansas State on March 28.
Before Nebraska: A native of Waukesha, Wis., Acker joined the Huskers from Marquette High School, where he led the Hilltoppers to a 27-8 record and a runner-up finish at the 2016 state tournament under Coach Sal Bando Jr. • Ranked by Perfect Game as a top-300 overall player in the country and the No. 45 outfielder • Tabbed as the No. 4 overall player in the state of Wisconsin and the No. 1 outfielder in the state • Was a 2016 Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable-Mention All-American and second-team All-Central Region pick • Played summer ball for the GRB Rays, which produced fellow Huskers Alex Henwood and Scott Schreiber.
