Minneapolis, Minn. - The Nebraska cross country team competed at the 2016 Big Ten Championships on Sunday at Les Bolstad Golf Course.

The men's team claimed a 10th-place finish (275 points) in the 8K race, while the women's team landed at 13th overall (349 points) in the 6K race. It marked the best ever finish for the men's team at the Big Ten Championships and their best team score at the Big Ten meet.

Sophomore Wyatt McGuire led the men's team for the second meet in a row, coming in at 35th overall with a time of 25:27.0. Following McGuire were seniors Jacob Olson (25:55.7) and Patrick Letz (26:00.7), coming in at 60th and 62nd, respectively, in their final Big Ten Championship race. Freshman Karson LeComte also had a strong finish in his first ever championship meet, coming in at 74th overall with a time of 26:12.5. Austin Post was the Huskers' fifth finisher, coming in at 76th overall with a time of 26:13.9.

Junior Anna Peer led the women's squad, coming in at 50th overall with a time of 22:32.8. She missed last year's Big Ten meet with an injury after placing 14th in 2014. Junior Katrina Santiago was the next Husker to cross the line after consistently being the leader of the team all season long. She claimed a 68th-place finish with a time of 22:51.9. A trio of Huskers finished in a pack to round out the Huskers' top five. Freshman Elsa Forsberg ran 23:34.0 to finish 92nd, Bonnie Smith ran 23:34.9 to grab 93rd and Nicole Colonna finished in 23:36.7 to place 94th.

The Huskers will be back in action at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday, Nov. 11.
