Lincoln, Neb.-- The Nebraska men's tennis team faught a tough battle against its first Big Ten opponent, the Iowa Hawkeyes, but unfortunately fell 5-2 at home.
In doubles, in the No. 1 spot Dylan Bednarczyk and Chris Dean played hard but fell 6-4 to Iowa's Josh Silverstein and Lefteris Theodorou. Micah Klousia and Tomislav Antoljak played against Jake Jacoby and Robin Haden but lost 6-1, which then meant the doubles point went to Iowa.
In singles, Rok Krizaj played in the No. 6 spot against Jake Jacoby but fell 6-1, 6-0. Micah Klousia faught a tough battle against a Hawkeye but lost 6-4, 6-2. Toby Boyer played in the No. 1 spot but also fell to Iowa 6-3, 6-4. Dylan Bednarczyk played a tough battle and was victorious, scoring a point for the Huskers. He played Lefteris Theodorou and won 6-4, 0-6, 6-4. Tomislav Antoljak also got a point for the Huskers in the No. 3 spot, 6-4, 6-7, 1-0. For the last point, Chris dean battled hard but fell to Robin Haden, 8-6, 2-6, 1-0.
The Huskers are back in action next weekend against Toledo, on March 17 at 4 p.m. and Wichita State on Saturday, March 18, at 1 p.m. Admission to home matches is free.
