Guthmiller Earns Exemption Into Web.com Event
Husker golfer Jace Guthmiller won the Indian Creek Invitational on Sunday, July 16, earning him a sponsor's exemption into this week's Web.com Tour's Pinnacle Bank Championship.
Guthmiller birdied the final hole of the tournament to edge Michael Colgate and Carson Schaake by one stroke. Guthmiller posted rounds of 70 and 69 at Indian Creek Golf Club for a 5-under-par 139 total. Justin Jennings also placed in the top 10, finishing sixth with an even-par score of 144. Colgate and Jennings were each seniors for the Nebraska men's golf team in 2016-17.
Guthmiller, a rising junior from Yankton, S.D., qualifies for this week's Pinnacle Bank Championship on a sponsor's exemption with his win at Indian Creek. The 72-hole tournament, set for Thursday to Sunday at Indian Creek, will play host to 156 golfers.
