As the lone freshman during the 17-18 season, Emily Rees recorded two doubles wins and one singles victories during the 2017 fall invitational season.
A native of Portland, Ore., Rees was ranked second in her home state and has been ranked as high as No. 125 at the national level.
“Emily is going to be a tremendous addition to our program with her tremendous work ethic and belief in the philosophy of our program,” Head Coach Scott Jacobson said. “She will fit in extremely well, and we are excited that she chose Nebraska.”
Rees chose Nebraska over Missouri, Boise State, Rhode Island and Wisconsin.
A graduate of Lincoln High School in Portland, Rees was no stranger to high-level tennis competition. A four-time state finalist in doubles and singles, Rees claimed two state championships in doubles aciton. Rees also earned four district finalist positions and three district championships in doubles and singles competition. The new Husker addition produced a 28-2 overall career record in all of her district and state competitions through high school.
The daughter of Joyce Feliciano, Emily was born on April 4, 1999 in Portland, Ore. Emily has two sisters, Taylor (20) and Julia (15). Currently undecided on a major, Rees earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters of 2017-18. She was a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2018. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 2017. Emily spends her summers playing and teaching tennis as well as hiking outdoors.
