Nebraska Finishes 12th in Maui Jim Intercollegiate
CAREFREE, Ariz. - The Nebraska men's golf team finished in 12th place after the final round at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate on Sunday. The Huskers shot for a total score of 917 over the three-day event at the par-72, 7,203-yard course at Desert Forest Golf Club.
Arizona State took the title of 1st place at the event with a score of 857, followed by Georgia Tech (858) in 2nd, Kent State (859) in 3rd, LSU (862) in 4th and Lipscomb (870) in 5th.
Jace Guthmiller posted an impressive mark of 216 and tied for 12th place overall individually. The junior has now led the Husker lineup in both events of the season.
Following Guthmiller was fellow junior Jackson Wendling with a score of 227. Wendling finished the weekend tied for 43rd overall.
Freshman Daniel Pearson again came in at the middle of the lineup for NU. Pearson golfed for a score of 240 and finished 71st. Tanner Owen and Sean Song rounded out the Huskers' squad, tying for 72nd with a score of 241.
Nebraska will look to bounce back at The Jackrabbit in Valentine, Neb. on Sunday, Oct. 1.
