Huskers Fall to Wildcats, 1-0
Evanston, Ill. – The Nebraska soccer team (9-4-5, 3-2-5 Big Ten) completed its four-game road stretch with a 1-0 loss to Northwestern at Martin Stadium on Saturday night.
The Huskers entered the game with a season-long eight-match unbeaten streak, but the Wildcats (9-6-2, 6-3-1) ended it with one regular-season game remaining for the Big Red. The goal, which was her first of the season, was assisted by Kayla Sharples.
Husker goalkeeper Aubrei Corder earned five saves to move into seventh on Nebraska’s all-time goalkeeper saves list with 127. She passed Jessica Mills (2007-09), who had 124 career saves.
The Huskers, who were outshot by Northwestern by a 10-8 margin, managed four shots from senior Haley Hanson, while four additional Huskers took one shot apiece. Three of Nebraska’s shots were on goal, compared to Northwestern’s six.
Nebraska remains in a three-way tie with Wisconsin and Purdue for sixth place in the Big Ten standings with 14 points. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season advance to the Big Ten Tournament.
