Huskers Take Second in Mizzou Invitational

Columbia, Mo.- The Nebraska swim and dive team took second place in the Mizzou Invitational with a final score of 774.50. Multiple members set lifetime bests throughout the three-day competition.

After the opening day, Omaha native Abigail Knaptonn took sixth place in the one-meter dive with a score of 265.95. Knapton also took first-place in the platform dive event (270.60) and the three-meter event (348.50).

In the 400-yard individual medley, freshman Alli Kopas secured a fourth-place finish for the Huskers (4:18.01), a new personal best. She followed by Bridget Pacilio for eighth (4:22.22).

Allie Worrall finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.08), followed by Savannah Savitt for 11th and a new personal best (1:50.34). Jessica Pentlarge (1:50.34) and Rachel Powers (1:50.73) also found personal bests coming in at 12th and 17th, respectively. 

In the 100-yard breaststroke, sophomore Tori Beeler finished fourth (1:01.67), followed by Gwen Worlton with a lifetime best for fifth place (1:01.76). 

Lindsay Stalheim (55.84), Morgan McCafferty (55.00) and Lindsey Helferich (54.84) all posted lifetime bests in the 100-yard backstroke. 

In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the Big Red took second (7:23.11) and fourth-place (7:25.47) finishes.

Team captain Kaylyn Flatt posted a third-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle (16:41.30). Powers followed for seventh (16:56.19).

In the 100-yard freestyle prelims, Katt Sickle (51.93), Powers (53.21), Savitt (52.36) and Worrall (51.18) all posted new lifetime bests. 

Team captain Jordan Ehly (2:11.17) and Worlton (2:12.64) earned career bests in the 200-yard breaststroke prelims. 

Pentlarge finished seventh in the 100-yard freestyle (50.85).

In the finals of the 200-yard breastroke, Ehly took second (2:11.60), Beeler took third (2:12.24) for a career best and Worlton took fourth (2:12.02).

Dana Posthuma took second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:00.02). 

The Huskers will continue their dual season Jan. 13 in Omaha as they take on the Mavericks.
