Huskers Finish Fall Season With Team High

Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Nebraska rifle team posted a season-high aggregate score of 4,672 in competition but ultimately fell to Kentucky, Ohio State and Air Force. Nebraska and Air Force tied for third with an aggregate score of 4,672. However, when the inner tens were tallied the Falcons came out on top, 280-257.

The Huskers posted their second-highest team score of the season in smallbore with a mark of 2,316. Hannah Virga paced NU with a career-high score of 587. Dacotah Faught fired a score of 578, followed by Emily Cheramie (577). Samantha Peterson (574) and Kayla Gadeken (568) rounded out the Huskers. Nina Radulovic (not squadded) fired a 578.

Nebraska did very well in air rifle, firing a season-high score of 2,356 as a team. Hannah Virga was out front with a score of 590. Maddie Korthas and Samantha Peterson were close behind, both firing a score of 589. Dacotah Faught brought in a mark of 588. Elizabeth Ewert (580) rounded out the Huskers in her second match as a squadded member.

Kentucky placed first in the event with an overall score of 4,687. Henrik Larsen paced the Wildcats, posting an air rifle score of 596. Ohio State posted an aggregate score of 4,682 to finish second. The Buckeyes were bolstered by Jacob Buchanan’s smallbore score of 581 and Mark Matheny’s air rifle score of 596. Nate Peterson’s smallbore score of 585 and Spencer Brandon’s air rifle score of 594 contributed to Air Force’s overall score of 4,672.

This match concluded the fall season for Nebraska. The Huskers will compete again on Jan. 13-14 against Ole Miss and Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. Action is set to begin at 8 a.m.
