Las Vegas, Nev. – No. 11 Isaiah White (165) and Taylor Venz (184) each finished third individually to lead the Nebraska wrestling team on the final day of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Wrestling Invitational at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Saturday. The Huskers, who had five wrestlers make the podium, finished fifth as a team with 100.5 points.

White won his first two matches Friday but fell to No. 7 Te'Shan Campbell of Ohio State in the quarterfinals. He reached the third-place match as a result of winning decisions over No. 12 Branson Ashworth of Wyoming and No. 18 Jon Jay Chavez of Cornell, as well as a medical forfeit over No. 9 Nick Wanzek of Minnesota. In the third-place match, White avenged his loss to Campbell by winning a 4-1 decision over the Buckeye.

Venz made a name for himself on Friday as he won all four of his matches by pin, including a pair of falls in less than 15 seconds. In the semifinal match, Venz dropped a 19-4 technical fall to second-ranked Myles Martin of Ohio State. Venz quickly bounced back, as he won an 8-3 decision over No. 11 Ricky Robertson of Wisconsin before topping No. 6 Zack Zavatsky (Virginia Tech) in the third-place match, 9-3. Venz, who went 6-1 in Las Vegas, took down four ranked opponents in the tournament, all of whom were in the top 12 at 184 pounds.

No. 7 Chad Red Jr. (141) and No. 4 Tyler Berger (157) each finished fourth individually.

Red began the tournament as the second seed and won each of his three matches Friday, but lost a hard-fought 3-2 decision to No. 13 Josh Alber of Northern Iowa. Red advanced to the third-place match by defeating Nick Zanetta of Pittsburgh by medical forfeit. In the third-place bout, Red fell to third-ranked Bryce Meredith (Wyoming) by a 5-3 decision.

Berger, the top seed at 157 pounds, went 3-0 Friday but fell to No. 11 Alec Pantaleo of Michigan by a 9-3 decision. Berger rebounded in the consolation semifinals, as he took down No. 20 Archie Colgan by decision for the second time in three weeks, 6-4. In the third-place match, Berger suffered a 6-4 loss to No. 5 Josh Shields (Arizona State).

No. 5 Colton McCrystal, who began the tournament as the second seed, won his three matches at 149 pounds on Friday, but dropped a 12-0 major decision to #6 Justin Oliver of Central Michigan. McCrystal took sixth as a result of a pair of medical forfeits in the consolation semifinals and the fifth-place match.

Kris Williams (125), Brian Peska (133), Beau Breske (174), Eric Schultz (197) and David Jensen (HWT) each competed at the Cliff Keen Invitational but were eliminated during Friday's action.
