Huskers Top Illinois on Senior Day
Lincoln- The Nebraska swim and dive team defeated Illinois on senior day with a final score of 183-112.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, team captain Kaylyn Flatt pulled out a first-place finish (10:12.97).
Standout freshman Haebig captured first place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.97) followed by Jessica Pentlarge for third (1:53.93).
The Huskers swept the top three spots in the 100-yard breaststroke with senior captain Jordan Ehly in first (1:03.95), Tori Beeler in second (1:04.30) and Gwen Worlton rounding out the top three (1:04.40).
Helferich added her second first-place finish of the day in the 50-yard freestyle (24.21) and Allie Worrall follwed for third (24.35).
Pentlarge got on the board for the Huskers again with a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (52.23), and Helferich came in third (52.50).
Team captain Anna McDonald finished first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.49).
Ehly found her second first-place finish of the meet in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.96) and Worlton followed for second (2:19.39).
Haebig finished first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.02) followed by Flatt for second (5:04.59).
In the 100-yard butterfly, Murray finished second (56.22) and Posthuma came in third (56.44).
McDonald finished second in the 400-yard individual medley (4:31.34), followed by Coughlen for third (4:32.90).
On the diving front, Abi Knapton took first in the three-meter dive with her score of 324.22. Junior Katrina Voge took third 276.30.
In the one-meter dive event, Knapton also took first place (263.73), followed by Voge for third (233.55).
The Nebraska swim and dive team will be back in action January 26 when they face Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J.
