Huskers Fueled For Flames
Lincoln, Neb. – The No. 3 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team returns home for a meet against UIC on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. Competition is set for 4 p.m. After finishing third last weekend against No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 2 Stanford in Norman, Okla., a win against UIC will allow NU to contend for the No. 1 spot again.
Last Time Out
The Huskers fell to No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 4 Stanford at the McCasland Field House in Norman, Okla. with a score of 403.800. The Sooners came out on top, posting 418.000, the highest NCAA score this season, while Stanford scored 410.500. NU was led by Kyle King and Antonio Castro, who won the vault and pommel horse titles, respectively. Amongst stiff competition, Nebraska scored 73.20 on vault, breaking the school record and setting the top NCAA mark this season on the event.
Scouting the Competition
No. 18 UIC comes off a third place finish to Stanford and Iowa at home, scoring 366.300. Stanford came out on top with 405.750, while Iowa followed with 396.100. Key returners include sophomores Satchel Hudson, Tyler Ball and Basil Szechinski. Ranked 17th in the CGA Preason Coaches Poll, the Flames continue to improve their scores week after week. At the meet against Stanford and Iowa, UIC came away with a team score improvement of over 11 points from the season-opening Windy City Invitational. The last time Nebraska and UIC met was in 2017, where the Huskers won 406.300 – 367.950.

Twist Out Cancer
Saturday’s meet will be a pink out in honor of breast cancer awareness. The Huskers will sport pink-themed warm-up shirts. The team encourages all fans to wear pink as well to support this cause.
