NU Tees off Spring in B1G Match Play Championship
PALM COAST, Fla. - The Nebraska men's golf team is ready to take on the 2018 season and is set to play in the Big Ten Match Play Championship on Friday and Saturday.
Hammock Beach Resort Conservatory and Ocean Courses in Palm Coast, Florida will play host to the tournament. A shotgun start at 7 a.m. CT will kick off the event. Nebraska will take the 14th seed with a score of 161 and will face Northwestern Friday morning.
At the conclusion of three divisional matches between the West and the East, the teams will be ranked one through seven within their division. Teams will play a final match against the team with the same ranking in the opposite division on Saturday afternoon.
The Huskers look to rally behind their young squad without seniors. The junior duo of Jace Guthmiller and Jackson Wendling will lead the way after placing first or tying for first on the team at four of the five events during the fall season. Sean Song, Cameron Jones, Daniel Pearson, Dylan McCabe and Tanner Owen will also be making the trip and looking to improve on their scores from last fall.
BTN will broadcast the 2018 Big Ten Match Play Championship with a 90-minute re-air on Saturday, March 3 at 3:30 p.m. CT. Updates from the tournament will be posted on Huskers.com
