Percy Breaks Weight Throw School Record Again

Nebraska senior Nick Percy broke his own weight throw school record on Friday to lead the Husker track and field team as they competed at both the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic and the Iowa State Classic.

Percy posted a new personal best of 71-2 (21.69m) to win the event at the Gorilla Classic, breaking the record of 68-10 3/4 (21.00m) he previously set on Jan. 26 at the Air Force Invitational. The Ventnor, England native climbed to No. 15 in the nation with his mark. 

Raynesha Lewis was the winner in the women's long jump at the Gorilla Classic after a personal-best leap of 19-11 1/2 (6.08m), which ranks second in the Big Ten this season. Mike Mitchell finished third in the men's long jump at 24-5 (7.44m), a personal best. Isaiah Griffith was fourth at 23-11 (7.29m). Chris Daniels took fifth in the weight throw at 59-6 3/4 (18.15m).

At the Iowa State Classic, Lakayla Harris was the champion of the women's 200 meters with a time of 23.89. Chanel Freeman took third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.74 after running a season-best 8.59 in prelims. Luke Siedhoff was fourth in the men's hurdles with a PR 7.92. 

Elijah Lucy finished third in the long jump with a distance of 23-2 3/4 (7.08m).
