Rio Grande, P.R. - Nebraska's Noor Ahmed fired a two-over-par 73 in one of the day's best individual rounds to lead the Husker women's golf team at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at the Rio Mar Country Club on Monday morning.

Ahmed, a freshman from Folsom, Calif., carded one of just eight rounds of 73 or better among the 66 golfers in the field in the second round of the three-day event on the par-71, 5,981-yard layout of the Ocean Course at Rio Mar. Ahmed vaulted 23 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 33rd at 154 through 36 holes.

Fellow Californian Jessica Haraden (Thousand Oaks) added a 79 to close the second round in a tie for 21st at 152. The sophomore opened the tournament with a career-best-matching 73 on Sunday.

Ahmed and Haraden provided bright spots on a tough day for the Huskers. Sophomore Annie Sritragul managed an 83, while Kate Smith and Hannah Thiele both settled for rounds of 84, as Nebraska finished the round at 319. NU sits in 11th place in the 11-team field with a two-round total of 628. The Huskers are 11 strokes back of the No. 17 hosts from Purdue.
