Morgantown, W.Va. – The Nebraska rifle team concluded its appearance at the 2017-18 GARC Championships today with a fifth-place finish. An aggregate score of 4,651 was enough to land the Huskers in a tie for fourth with Ole Miss but NU ultimately fell short to the Rebels in the tiebreaker.

Nebraska combined for an overall team air rifle score of 2,345. Dacotah Faught (15th overall) was out front for the Huskers in air rifle with a mark of 590. Samantha Peterson was close behind with 587. Emily Cheramie shot 585 after leading NU in smallbore yesterday. Nina Radulovic and Kayla Gadeken both tallied scores of 583 to round out the Huskers. The non-squadded members also shot well, particularly Hannah Virga’s 586.

West Virginia took first in air rifle, sweeping both disciplines and ascending to first place with an overall score of 4,699. Kentucky took second with a team aggregate of 4,686. Navy was in third with 4,663. NC State (4,646), Army (4,639), Akron (4,637) and Memphis (4,624) rounded out the rest of the field.

The Huskers will have a weekend off from competition before traveling to Charleston, S.C. for the NCAA Championships. Nebraska’s selection to NCAA’s marks a school-record six consecutive team appearances. Smallbore action is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. CT on Saturday, March 10. Air rifle competition will occur the following day.
