Huskers Snatch Arnold Classic Title
Columbus, Ohio – Week after week the Nebraska men’s gymnastics team continues to impress. This weekend deemed no different as the No. 5 Huskers took first place at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio. Nebraska finished with 404.000 over No. 4 Ohio State (401.600) and No. 11 Air Force (390.250). Jake Bonnay, Alex Magsam
The Huskers started off on rings, earning 65.80. Magsam came out on top as the event winner with 14.05. Jonathan Scripnick scored 13.20, while Josh Everitt followed behind with 13.15. Heath Anderson and Griffin Kehler closed out the Husker scoring with 12.90 and 12.50, respectively.
NU moved to
Nebraska finished with 66.45 on high bar. Bonnay again led the way for the Huskers with 13.85. King finished with a career-high 13.45, while Castro finished with 13.35. Anton Stephenson notched 13.00 and Kehler added 12.80 to close out the Husker scoring.
The Big Red again dominated on vault, scoring 70.70. Event winner Anton Stephenson finished with 14.85. Zach Peters also finished strong, scoring 14.30. Magsam and Martin notched 14.10 and 14.05, respectively, while King added 13.40 to the team score.
On the final rotation of the competition, NU scored 64.55 on parallel bars. The Stephenson brothers led the way for Nebraska, as Chris and Anton notched 13.45 and 13.15, respectively. Andrew Zymball followed closely with 13.10, while Kehler added 12.95. Magsam rounded out the team score with 11.90.
After a weekend off, the Huskers head to State College, Penn., to take on conference rival Penn State on March 17. Competition is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
