Throwers Compete at Chula Vista Meet
Chula Vista, California - Some of Nebraska's throwers competed at the Chula Vista Throws/Vault meet at the Chula Vista Elite Training Center on Thursday, and two Huskers picked up event titles.
Brittni Wolczyk won the javelin with a mark of 160-2 (48.82m), while Chase Wolinski took second with a throw of 147-2 1/2 (44.87m).
Edward Jeans picked up the title in the hammer throw, as he hit a distance of 199-8 (60.86m).
A pair of Huskers set personal bests in the men's discus, as Nicholas Coghill was the top collegiate finisher and third overall with a personal-best throw of 183-1 1/4 (55.81m), while Burger Lambrechts was fourth overall with a PR of 176-3 (53.27m).
Toni Tupper was third overall and second among collegiate finishers in the women's shot put with a mark of 52-6 1/4 (16.01m), while Kristina Insingo finished fourth with a PR of 49-2 1/2.
Burger Lambrechts was the top collegiate finisher and second overall in the men's shot put with a throw of 59-3 1/2 (18.07m).
Nebraska's throwers are in action Friday at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, California, beginning at 11:30 a.m. (CT), while the other members of Nebraska's squad are competing at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at 11 a.m. (CT).
