Huskers Begin Quadrangular at Kansas Relays

Lawrence, Kan. - Friday marked the start of the quadrangular competition at the Kansas Relays, and a pair of Huskers posted runner-up finishes, while three set personal bests at Rock Chalk Park.

The quadrangular opened with the men's and women's hammer throws, as NU athletes took second in both events. Nick Percy took second in the men's competition, as he threw a season-best of 220-3 (67.13m), just two feet behind his school record. Edward Jeans took third with a throw of 197-1 (60.08m), while Chris Daniels took fourth with a PR of 195-11 (59.72m).

Husker throwers set a pair of PRs in the women's competition, as Alice Akers took second with a personal-best throw of 184-7 (56.27m), while Kristina Insingo took fifth with a PR throw of 167-5 (51.03m).

After one scored event, both the Husker men and women are in second place. The Nebraska men have 13 points, which trails Kansas' 14 points, while the NU women have 12 points, behind Kansas State's 15. Harvard is third in both the men's and the women's standings, while the Kansas women and Kansas State men round out the field.

In the college open division, Dario Robinson advanced to Saturday's finals of the 110m hurdles with a qualifying time of 14.56, as he finished second in his heat and sixth overall (fifth among collegiate athletes).

Shelby Brown, competing unattached, took fourth in the college open women's discus with a throw of 152-1 (46.37m).

The Kansas Relays continue Saturday with the final day of competition. Quadrangular field events begin at 1 p.m., while running events get started at 3 p.m. Robinson, who is competing in the finals of the open division 110m hurdles, will race Saturday at 12:23 p.m. Live results and a live stream (subscription required) will be available at FloTrackStarting at 3 p.m. Saturday, Spectrum Sports will have a TV broadcast, which will be simulcast on Watch ESPN.
