Victor Moreno Lozano earned an important role at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots in his freshman year with the Huskers, playing a team-high 37 singles matches overall. The Madrid, Spain, native ended the season with a 19-18 mark, including a 11-12 spring record while going 2-7 in Big Ten play.
In doubles play, Moreno went 7-19 overall (4-12 Spring, 2-6 Big Ten), playing mostly out of the No. 2 position.
Moreno was only the second Husker -- along with junior Micah Klousia -- to reach the round of 32 of the ITA Fall Central Regional, Oct. 18-21. He went 8-6 in the fall season.
Victor Moreno, who attended Colegio Vallmont, in Madrid, Spain, was ranked No. 5 nationally in Spain for Boys 16 and Under Singles in 2016, and No. 1 in Madrid for Boys 16 and Under Singles. Lozano was ranked as high as No. 90 in all of Spain Men’s Singles, a ranking that includes tennis professionals such as Rafael Nadal, Pablo Carreno Busta, Roberto Bautista and Fernando Verdasco.
Victor is the son of Fernando Moreno and Paloma Lozano, and was born in Madrid, Spain on September 9, 2000. He is the younger brother of teammate Alvaro Moreno Lozano. Victor is majoring in electrical engineering and earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2018-19.
