First-Place Finishes and Career Bests Set in Honolulu
Honolulu- The Nebraska Swim and Dive team was represented by Husker divers Abigail Knapton, Hallie Roman, Grace Tiernon, Sara Troyer and Jessica Warak at the 2019 Wally Nakamoto Diving Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii over the weekend.
On Thursday, Troyer dove to her second victory of the season on the one-meter board with a score of 278.05. Roman (12th, 233.15) and Tiernon (17th, 212.35) added solid showings on the one-meter board for the Big Red.
Knapton, a two-time All-American for the Huskers, claimed two victories during the competition. The first came Friday on the three-meter board (319.30), before notching another victory on Saturday in the platform competition (276.30). Knapton, a junior from Omaha, has produced 15 top-five finishes this season, including 10 victories.
Troyer racked up 273.30 points on the three-meter board to claim a runner-up finish. It was her 10th top-five finish of the season. Warak added a seventh-place showing on the three-meter board (253.05), while Roman took 16th (218.10).
On the final day of competition, Warak claimed a second-place finish on the platform board. The freshman from Bellevue posted a career-high 241.80. Tiernon took fourth (218.35) on the platform, also notching a career high in the event while earning her second top-five finish of the season.
