Huskers Kick Off Mid-Winter Classic

Jonesboro, Ark.- The Nebraska bowling team went 3-2 on Friday at the Mid-Winter Classic in Jonesboro, Ark. The Huskers finished in seventh place with a pinfall of 4,700 heading into the traditional style matches on Saturday.


The Huskers kicked off Friday’s match play with a loss against No. 22 Maryville by a score of 976-878. NU bounced back, winning the next two matches against No. 6 Tulane (983-913) and Texas Southern (991-753). The Huskers fell to No. 3 Vanderbilt by a score of 950-921 before ending the day strong with a victory over Lincoln (Missouri) (927-694.)


The Mid-Winter Invitational continues Saturday at 9:25 a.m. (CT) with five traditional matches. The Huskers will begin the day with matches against Alabama Birmingham and Alabama A&M.

NU will also take on Kentucky Wesleyan and No. 10 Stephen F. Austin before ending the day with a match against No. 22 Maryville. Friday and Saturday’s combined results will determine the seeding for Sunday’s bracket-play championship tournament, in which each team will play three rounds of best-of-seven Baker matches, beginning at 8:30 a.m. (CT)
