Stephenson Claims All-Around Title

Lincoln, Neb. - Anton Stephenson claimed the all-around title and horizontal bar title in the Huskers home opener against No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 4 Illinois. The Huskers also posted a season-high score on floor with a 68.95, led by Zach Peters who posted a career-high score on floor with a 14.15. Oklahoma earned first (411.300), Nebraska finished second (401.250) while Illinois finished third (399.150).

Rotation One
Nebraska started the night on floor, posting a season-high team score of 68.95. Senior Anton Stephenson led the Huskers with a 14.40, followed closely by Jake Bonnay who posted a 14.30. Zach Peters posted a career-high  score of 14.15. Josh Martin and Evan Hymanson weren’t too far behind, scoring 13.10 and 13.00 respectively. Jonathan Scripnick finished with a 12.10.

Rotation Two
NU moved to pommel horse, where Stephenson led the team with a score of 13.45. Freshman Khalil Jackson was close behind with a 13.15. Bonnay and Martin notched a 12.50 and 12.45 respectively, while Mitch Tyndall added a 12.40. Evan Kriley finished with an 11.80. At the end of rotation two, the Huskers finished with a 63.95.

Rotation Three
On still rings, the Huskers posted a team score of 65.50. Austin Lober and Evan Hymanson led the way with scores of 13.35 and 13.30. Stephenson followed closely with a 13.25. Joshua Everitt and Tyndall rounded out the team score with a 12.85 and 12.75 respectively. Jonathan Scripnick finished with a 12.70.

Rotation Four
After a slow start, Nebraska performed strong on vault, scoring a 70.95. Peters paved the way with a career-high score of 14.50, followed closely by Anton Stephenson with a 14.40. Scripnick and Bonnay both finished with a 14.05, while Charlie Giles added a 13.95. Dylan LeClair finished with a 13.85.

Rotation Five
NU moved to parallel bars, posting a team score of 66.65. Dillan King led the way with a career-high score of 14.15. Hymanson and Andrew Zymball followed closely, notching a 13.75 and 13.15 respectively. Tyndall and Bonnay rounded out the team score with a 12.95 and 12.65. Anton Stephenson finished with an 11.45.

Rotation Six
On their final rotation, the Huskers finished with a score of 65.25 on high bar. Stephenson scored on top with a 13.55. Bonnay followed closely behind, notching a 13.30, while Scripnick added a 13.10.  Hymanson and Jackson rounded out the team score with a 12.80 and 12.50 respectively. Dillan King finished with an 11.70.
