Huskers Begin Outdoor Season in Wichita

The Nebraska track and field team began the outdoor season at the Herm Wilson Invitational at Cessna Stadium in Wichita, Kansas on Friday. 

In the only field event to take place on the day, Anna Purchase finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 190-11 (58.20m). James Joycey was third in the men's hammer throw at 195-4 (59.55m). 

Sadio Fenner placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:39.75. Elsa Forsberg finished third in the 1,500 meters in 4:34.07, and Ty Moss led the Husker men in the 1,500 meters in fourth place with a time of 4:02.50. Ryan Martins was just behind him in fifth place at 4:03.05. 

Myles Fleming (15:23.15) and Alex Tollinger (15:54.53) finished second and third, respectively, in the 5,000 meters. 

The meet continues on Saturday with field events at Noon and running events at 2 p.m.
