By NU Athletic Communications

Nebraska track and field athletes split up across the country to compete at four different meets, as action at the Texas Relays, Florida Relays, Bobcat Invitational and Mike Fanelli Track Classic began Thursday.

Nebraska had one addition to the NU top-10 list. Erika Freyhof competed in the 10,000 meter run at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and finished fifth with a personal-best time of 35:15.11, good for No. 7 on the NU all-time top-10 list.

"Erika worked her race plan very well and got a Nebraska top-10 all-time mark and a big PR in the process," Harris said. "She will set her sights on the 5K in a month before deciding what to do at the Big Ten Championships."

Ty Moss and Alex Meyer were the top finishers for Nebraska on Thursday. Moss was the runner-up in the Invitational 800 meters with a time of 1:50.32 at the Texas Relays. Meyer finished second in the discus with a throw of 170-7 (52.00m) at the Bobcat Invitational.

At the Texas Relays, Tyler Loontjer tied for third overall in the pole vault with a clearance of 17-4 1/2 (5.30m). His mark of 17-4 1/2 (5.30m) tied his No. 10 spot on the NU top-10 list. Spencer Powell also placed in the event and tied for seventh with a PR of 16-10 3/4 (5.15m).

Zach Podraza completed the decathlon and set a new personal-best with 7,287 points. He was just five points shy of the NU top-10 list. Podraza led all decathletes in both the pole vault and javelin with marks of 16-0 3/4 (4.90m) and 207-7 (63.27m), respectively. Both of his leading marks were PR's.

Sydney Otto finished seventh in her section of the javelin and earned a distance of 151-10 (46.29m).

Competition continues Friday with the Huskers competing at the Texas Relays, Florida Relays, Bobcat Invitational, Mike Fanelli Track Classic and Stanford Invitational. Live results for all meets can be followed at Huskers.com.
