One of the top junior players in the world, Albert Sprlak Puk signed his National Letter of Intent with Nebraska in March of 2019 after climbing as high as No. 176 in the International Tennis Federation junior rankings. In 2018, Sprlak-Puk participated in four ITF Futures events in his native Czech Republic, competing with tennis professionals around the world.
Sprlak Puk's experience should give him a chance to compete for a spot in Nebraska's lineup immediately as a freshman in 2019-20.
"The international junior tennis experience that Albert has gained in the form of match-play against some very talented juniors from all over the world will help our team tremendously," Nebraska Coach Sean Maymi said. "He is a technically sound player and a good athlete. Albert constructs points well and will be a true asset to our team right away."
Sprlak Puk battled his way to a pair of titles and five semifinal appearances while competing on the ITF junior circuit in Europe from 2016 to 2019. He won the 2017 Bavarian Junior Championships in Cadolzburg, Germany, after capturing the 2016 Krka Open in Slovenia. The talented player from Brno, Czech Republic, reached as high as No. 176 in the ITF junior rankings.
