A talented shooter, Heather Pissos (pronounced PIECES) should have an immediate impact this season. Pissos shot a personal-best score of 391in air rifle at the USA Shooting National Championships in June, which should prepare her for collegiate competition.

As a junior competitor
Pissos finished second in both the air rifle and smallbore competitions at the 2000 National Junior Olympic Women?s Rifle Championships. Her runner-up finishes came against fellow Huskers Terim Richards in air rifle and Nicole Allaire in smallbore. Competing as an individual, Pissos finished 19th in air rifle (387) and 24th in smallbore (1,156) at the 1999 Walsh Rifle Match, scores which would have placed her second among the Huskers in both events.

The daughter of Mark and Janet Pissos, Heather was born June 3, 1982. She has a sister, Michelle, 20. A psychology major, Heather chose Nebraska over West Virginia, which also boasts one of the best competitive collegiate shooting teams in the country.
