Casey Schnack (Sh-NOCK) is a key part of
Schnack set career-best times in the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle and also gained her third straight top-10 finish in the 1,650 free at the Big 12 Championships, where she came in ninth. Her career-best 500-free clocking of 4:53.43 (NCAA provisional-qualifying time) came in the preliminary race at the conference meet, before she went on to a 12th-place finish in the finals. Schnack set her first NCAA provisional cut as a Husker in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Schnack’s career-best time of 16:52.73 in the event ranked her in the national top 50 during the season and sixth in the Big 12 at the end of the regular season. The time was third on a talented distance squad that took four of the top 10 spots in the Big 12 in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Schnack was a solid contributor outside of distance freestyle events, as she also swam the backstroke and IM races on several occasions. On the year, Schnack won one race each in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke while regularly placing in the top five in her other events. In all, Schnack set six career bests.
