Lincoln - With unseasonably warm temperatures approaching 70 degrees in Lincoln on Wednesday, the Nebraska football team practiced for nearly two hours in full pads on the fields north of Memorial Stadium.

Head coach Frank Solich said the weather played a part in NU’s ability to get some additional practice in on grass.

"We were fortunate that the weather was good and we were able to get down on the grass today," Solich said. "There was some heat, so that was excellent as far as conditioning goes. We went full pads, so we pushed them pretty hard."

Solich also said that having an off week will help the Huskers get over the injury bug.

"It’s good that we have the off week because of the number of guys who are banged up," Solich said. "We should be healthy for the game, we’re counting on that. We are without a few guys this week and this will give them a chance to heal up."

The Huskers will not practice the rest of this week. NU returns to the practice field on Sunday to start preparations for the game against Colorado.
