The Nebraska football team spent part of Christmas Day on the practice field, going through a 1 ˝ hour practice in the early afternoon at San Antonio’s Trinity University. The Huskers donned full pads for the workout and were greeted by cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid 50s.

Interim Head Coach Bo Pelini said the workout was an improvement over the Huskers’ Wednesday practice.

“It was a pretty good practice today,” Pelini said. “We were in full pads and the players worked hard throughout the practice. We’ll go in half-pads tomorrow and that will probably be our last practice in half-pads.”

Nebraska began its Christmas with chapel and mass services available to the players at the Hyatt Regency in the morning, before team meetings late in the morning. Following practice, the Huskers had the remainder of the afternoon off, before gathering for Christmas dinner tonight at the team hotel. The players will receive their bowl gifts at the dinner, which will also feature a visit from Santa Claus.

Nebraska resumes practice on Friday morning with a workout at Trinity University. The Huskers’ preparations for the Monday evening contest against Michigan State will move to the Alamodome on Saturday morning.
