The Huskers took to the track at the USATF Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif., on Thursday.
Cody Walton competed in the men’s junior decathlon, finishing fifth with 7,265 points. He posted a time of 11.22 in the 100 meters, before a leap of 20-1 ¾ (6.14) in the long jump and a throw of 46-8 ¾ (14.24) in the shot put. Walton posted a leap of 6-0 ½ (1.84) in the high jump and followed that with a time of 50.41 in the 400 meters to close the first day of competition. He opened day two with a time of 14.75 in the 110-meter hurdles. Walton then posted a throw of 145-5 (44.33) in the discus and cleared 13-9 ¼ (4.20) in the pole vault. He threw the javelin 20-16 (61.43) and closed two days of competition with a time of 4:58.07 in the 1,500 meters.
In the women’s triple jump, Ellie Ewere finished 15th with a leap of 40-8 ¼ (12.40).
