Bio

As a Senior (2001-02): Tongoona garnered a 12-16 singles record, including a 7-10 record at the No. 4 position. He teamed up with freshman Jose Hernan to earn a 17-12 mark. The duo posted an 11-5 record at the No. 3 spot.

As a Junior (2000-01): Tongoona finished the season with a 4-10 record in singles play, competing mostly at the No. 5 position, where he ended the season with a 3-9 mark. In doubles, Tongoona played primarily at the No. 1 spot, recording a 6-10 record. He finished the season with a 7-19 mark in doubles competition.

As a Sophomore (1999-2000): Tongoona achieved numerous accomplishments on and off the court as a sophomore. He was awarded the Men's Tennis Lifter-of-the-Year award, and went on to post a 6-8 record at No. 3-4 positions. Tongoona was selected to attend the NCAA Leadership Conference at Lake Buena Vista, Fla. He was second-team Academic All-Big 12 and made the Big 12 Commissioner's Spring 2000 Honor Roll. Tongoona was one of 19 students to receive the 1999-2000 Big 12 Community Outreach award for sharing his talents with Special Education of LPS, Tour of Excellence and the UNL Shadowing Program. Back problems sidelined Tongoona during fall competition.

As a Freshman (1998-99): Tongoona added depth to the Huskers doubles and singles lineups. He posted a 2-3 overall doubles record as a freshman, including a 2-1 mark from the No. 3 spot. Tongoona cracked NU's singles lineup twice, going 0-2 at No. 6 singles.

Other: Tongoona graduated from Prince Edward High School. As a senior in 1997, Tongoona compiled a 22-4 record and earned the nation's No. 1 ranking.
