Women's Tennis Earns Fourth Straight Herman

By NU Athletic Communications

The Nebraska women’s tennis team won its fourth consecutive Herman Award for highest team grade-point average out of all Nebraska female sports during the Student-Athlete Recognition Banquet at the Embassy Suites in downtown Lincoln.

The program posted a 3.485 GPA in 2013 to capture its sixth Herman Award in history, since the men’s and women’s team awards began in 1994 thanks to a generous contribution from Dick and Dale Herman.

At the banquet, student athletes also received medallions for their GPA with 3.0-3.49 receiving Honors medallions, 3.50-3.749 receiving High Honors medallions and 3.75-4.0 receiving Highest Honors medallions.

Sophomore Lauren Wagner and Junior Izabella Zgierska earned Honors medallions while sophomore Maggy Lehmicke, senior Maike Zeppernick, and former Husker Patricia Veresova all achieved Highest Honors.

Well over 700 people attended the 24th annual banquet, which also featured the announcement of other prestigious Nebraska team awards. The men’s golf team took home the male Herman Award.
