Maric Helps Australia to First Win; Dagunduro Sidelined
London -- Thursday was a day of mixed results for Nebraska's basketball Olympians, as one former Husker helped his nation to a an important win, while another was sidelined with a knee injury.
Australia picked up a win that was crucial in their hopes of advancing to the medal round with an 81-61 win over China in Preliminary Round Group B early Thursday. Former Husker All-Big 12 performer Aleks Maric totaled two points, three rebounds and a blocked shot in just seven minutes of work in the win. Maric saw limited time in Australia's loss to Spain on Tuesday after suffering an eye injury. Nebraska's other Olympian was sidelined on Thursday, as Ade Dagunduro hyperextended his knee in Tuesday's game against Lithuania and did not play against the United States. Without the former Husker, Nigeria suffered a 156-73 setback against the gold medal favorites, as Team USA hit 29-of-46 3-pointers in breaking the Olympic record for most point in a game.
