2008-09 Season Outlook

C.J. Bray is one of five seniors on the 2008-09 roster, and she will be looked upon to carry a leadership role in addition to rising expectations in the pool. Her 100-yard backstroke time (58.66) was the fastest on the team last year, and Bray also competed in the 50-yard freestyle, posting the team’s third-best time in 2007-08 (24.04). Bray’s versatility, leadership and experience will make her a valuable asset to Pablo Morales’ squad in 2008-09.

2007-08 (Junior)

Bray was one of Nebraska’s best performers in the backstroke in 2007-08, as she posted the team’s fastest time in the 100-yard race (58.66). Bray earned a victory in the 100-yard backstroke against South Dakota State, and placed in the top five in that event a total of five times during the season. Bray stepped up during the 2008 Big 12 Championships, swimming in the 50-yard freestyle and earning a 14th-place finish to go along with a 15th-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.

2006-07 (Sophomore)

In 2006-07, Bray returned to her hometown of Omaha as a Husker and earned her first career victory, as she won the 100-yard backstroke against UNO. Bray had Nebraska's third-fastest time in the event during her first season in Lincoln after swimming a mark of 59.81 at the Minnesota Invite to earn a 25th-place finish among 68 competitors. Two weeks later, she was runner-up at South Dakota State. Also a regular entry in the 50-yard freestyle, Bray had a season-high fourth-place finish at Northern Iowa. She ended the season with a meet-high 25th-place showing in the 100 backstroke at the Big 12 Championships.

Previous (Wyoming/Millard West)

Following a successful high school career in which she was a seven-time high school All-American, Bray elected to attend the University of Wyoming, where she was the team's second-fastest 100-yard backstroker (1:00.00). At Millard West, Bray was part of the 2003 state-record 200-yard medley relay (1:46.35) team and was runner-up during her senior season (2005) in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. A dual-sport athlete, Bray was also an all-state soccer player.
