McCoy Wins Long Jump at USA Junior Championships

A select group of Huskers wrapped up competition at the 2014 USA Junior Championships in Eugene, Ore., over the weekend.

Jazmin McCoy claimed a win in the women’s long jump as she leaped 20-11 ¼ (6.38) to secure the top finish. Tierra Williams finished seventh in the event with a jump of 20-1 ½ (6.13).

Anna Peer finished second in the in the women’s 5,000 meters with a time of 17:23.89. In the women’s javelin, Sarah Firestone came in sixth with a throw of 147-1 (44.84), while Cody Walton came in ninth in the men’s javelin with a throw of 193-11 (59.11). Joe Harter finished 10th in the men’s 10,000 meters, finishing with a time of 32:39.28 and Chris Daniels finished 13th in the men’s discus with a throw of 165-3 (50.38).
