Huskers in Ninth at Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

Palm Desert, Calif. - The Nebraska men's golf team is in ninth place with 18 holes to play after shooting 305 in the second round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Saturday.

The Huskers opened the tournament with a 296 on Friday at the Classic Club, giving NU a 601 total through 36 holes. TCU leads the team competition by 11 strokes over Texas Tech at 565. TCU's Julien Brun, Texas Tech's Finley Ewing IV and St. Mary's Jonathan De Los Reye are tied for the individual lead at 139 strokes after two rounds.

Freshman Kolton Lapa turned in the best Husker score on Saturday with a 1-over-par 73. Lapa opened his second round with a birdie and added two more on the front nine en route to a 36. On the back nine, he made one bogey and eight pars for a 37. Lapa is tied for 16th at 146 strokes.

Jordan Reinertson is tied for 40th at 150 strokes through two rounds. The senior from Gibbon, Neb., notched a 4-over-par 76 on Saturday. Reinertson suffered two double bogeys on the front nine along with a birdie and a bogey for a 40. On the back nine, he cruised his way to nine pars for a 36.

Kevin Gillick posted a 6-over-par 78 in the second round after a first-round 74. His 152 total after two rounds puts him in a tie for 54th. Gillick made three birdies and nine bogeys on Saturday.

Junior Matt Record also carded a 78 on Saturday and is tied for 59th with 18 holes to play. Record produced a first-round 75 to give him a 36-hole total of 153. He birdied the 16th on Saturday, but added a triple bogey and four additional bogeys.

Sophomore Cameron Palmer is tied for 98th after shooting 80 in the second round. Palmer opened the tournament with an 85 on Friday. Ross Dickson, playing as an individual outside of the NU lineup, is tied for 75th at 156 strokes. Dickson shot a 4-over-par 76 in the second round.

Play resumes on Sunday at 9:20 a.m. (CT). The Huskers tee off on Hole No. 1 along with Kansas, Iowa State and Wichita State. Live scoring can be found at:
