Vote Hooper for Senior CLASS Award

By NU Athletic Communications

Lincoln - Nebraska's Jordan Hooper was named one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award, presented to an outstanding women's basketball player for excellence in community, classroom, character and competition.

Hooper, a 6-2 senior forward from Alliance, Neb., has been one of the nation's top scorers, rebounders and three-point shooters for the last four seasons. The two-time All-American and first-team All-Big Ten selection ranks among the top 12 active players in the nation in career points (2,111), rebounds (1,023) and three-pointers made (261) while starting all 120 games of her Husker career.

This season, Hooper is averaging 19.4 points and a Big Ten-leading 9.6 rebounds per game while helping the Huskers to a 17-5 overall record. Hooper, who has helped lead NU to a four-game winning streak, has the Huskers in the hunt for a Big Ten title with a 7-3 conference record.

In addition to her accomplishments on the court, which include helping the 2013 USA Basketball Women's World University Games Team to a gold medal in Russia this past summer, Hooper is also an outstanding student. The psychology major is on track to graduate in May.

Hooper has led Nebraska to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2013 NCAA Sweet 16 and is a two-time team captain. In the community, Hooper has been a frequent volunteer in both the Lincoln community and the state at large, including her hometown of Alliance in western Nebraska.

Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to determine the winner of this year's Senior CLASS Award. Nationwide voting began on Wednesday, Feb. 12, and fans can vote once per day, per device or computer for Jordan Hooper at

A vote for Hooper takes approximately 10 seconds. Voting is open until March 24.

Husker All-American Kelsey Griffin was the 2010 Senior CLASS Award winner for women's basketball, earning Nebraska's first-ever award in any sport. Volleyball All-American Gina Mancuso won NU's second award across all sports in 2012.

Hooper joined Griffin as one of three players in Nebraska's 2,000-point, 1,000-rebound club on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Griffin was in attendance at Pinnacle Bank Arena for the occasion, as Griffin became the third Husker to have her jersey retired. Hooper has since passed Griffin on Nebraska's career scoring and rebounding list.

The 2014 Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the NCAA Women's Final Four.
