Boldt Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

By NU Athletic Communications

Lincoln – Nebraska freshman outfielder Ryan Boldt earned his first weekly award from the Big Ten Conference on Monday morning when he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Boldt is the first Husker baseball freshman to earn a weekly honor since Pat Kelly earned the award on May 14, 2012.

In a three-game sweep of St. John’s this past weekend at Hawks Field, Boldt hit .600 (6-for-10) with a double and a triple. He tied Michael Pritchard for the team lead in hits with six and led the Huskers in run scored with six. The Red Wing, Minn., native posted a .900 slugging percentage for the weekend and got on base at a .692 clip. In the series finale he scored three runs and blasted his second triple of the season.

The Huskers continue a nine-game home stand on Tuesday, March 11, when the Northern Colorado Bears visit Hawks Field for a pair of game on Tuesday and Wednesday.
