Boldt Earns Big Ten Honor for Second Time in 2014
Lincoln – For the second time this season, Nebraska freshman outfielder Ryan Boldt has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Boldt earned his second honor of the year on Monday afternoon, after also being tabbed for the award on March 10. Boldt is the first Husker baseball freshman to earn the weekly honor since Pat Kelly earned the award on May 14, 2012.
Boldt helped the Huskers improve to 10-5 in Big Ten play with a series win at Michigan this past weekend. The Red Wing, Minn., native scored four runs in three games and had a pair of multi-hit performances. Boldt went 2-fo-5 in the series opener, was 2-for-4 in game two and hit his fourth triple of the season in the series finale.
The Huskers are set to play a pair of midweek games in Omaha before returning to Hawks Field this weekend for a three-game series against Penn State. Nebraska is scheduled to play Creighton at TD Ameritrade Park on Tuesday before playing the Omaha Mavericks at Werner Park on Wednesday.
