The Nebraska wrestling team’s 2014 recruiting class earned the No. 6 ranking by InterMat on Wednesday.
The Huskers inked six grapplers during the fall signing period: Nick Bennett, Derek White, Colton Adams, Dustin Williams, Hayden Tuma and Tyler Berger.
Berger boasts the highest ranking overall among Nebraska’s future wrestlers in InterMat’s rankings. He is 29th, while taking the No. 6 spot at 152 pounds. He is projected to wrestle at either 149 or 157 pounds.
Tuma is one spot behind Berger in the overall rankings, with the No. 30 ranking. The Boise, Idaho native is fourth at 145 pounds, and will most likely wrestle at 141 pounds at Nebraska.
Adams, a Scottsbluff, Neb., native, rounds out the top 10 at 145 pounds, and holds the No. 59 spot overall. He captured his fourth consecutive Class B state title in February, and is slated to grapple at 141 pounds for the Huskers.
White is ranked 70th overall, and holds the No. 5 position at 195 pounds in InterMat’s latest poll. He is projected to be a 197-pounder at Nebraska.
Bennett, who is projected to wrestle at 149 or 157 for Nebraska, is ranked No. 12 at 152 pounds by InterMat and 80th overall among all high school wrestlers.
Williams comes from Gardner Edgerton in Gardner, Kan., and will wrestle at either 157 or 165 pounds.
Four-time defending national champion Penn State earned the top spot in InterMat’s rankings, while Oklahoma State came in second. Cornell, Ohio State and Northwestern round out the top five. Complete top 25 rankings can be found at InterMatWrestle.com.
