Former Nebraska player Erick Strickland and former NU Head Coach Danny Dee will be officially inducted into the Nebraska Basketball Hall of Fame banquet at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16 at Lincoln Station in downtown Lincoln’s Haymarket area.
Other banquet honorees are Rex Ekwall, who will become the second ex-Husker player to receive the Distinguished Hall of Fame Alumni Award, and Nebraska basketball play-by-play announcer Kent Pavelka, who will receive the Bud Cuca Special Merit Award.
All four 2009 honorees will be recognized at the Jan. 17 Nebraska-Kansas State basketball game. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. Other former Husker Hall of Fame players will join this year’s class in a special tribute at the game.
Cost for the banquet is $35 per person and is open to the public. The reservation deadline is Monday, Jan. 12 at noon. Banquet parking is available in the metered parking lot south of Lincoln Station (free after 6 p.m.) or in the adjacent north lot at minimal cost. Attire for the evening is business dress.
