Huskers Start Preparation for UCLA

Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska football team started its game-week preparations for UCLA Monday during a two-hour, helmet-only practice on the Ed and Joyanne Gass grass practice fields. Offensive Coordinator Tim Beck spoke to the media after practice, stating that the team has moved on from Southern Mississippi, and now is focusing on the Bruins.

“It’s a new preparation so you kind of have to erase the memories of what you have been doing and move on to the next opponent.”

Beck also talked about how the Husker offense needs to keep the momentum rolling into Saturday’s matchup.

“I think you need to be process driven, don’t be driven by just results.” Beck said. “We strive for perfection and want to have a perfect game. Our goal isn’t just to be 1-0; we have a long season to go.”

After having a career day Saturday against the Golden Eagles, Coach Beck also noted that junior quarterback Taylor Martinez has shown great focus and has had great preparation this season.

“I think he is a focused individual, you know it is not a one hit wonder. He wants to have a good season, and he knows that he will have to have the same preparation every week,” Beck said.

As for having Martinez and the offense featuring the passing game more prominently, Beck commented that “as long as we win it doesn’t really matter.”
