2006 Season

Kellie Jensen became an important part of the NU defense in 2006. Jensen played in 19 contests for the Huskers, helping the NU defensive unit hold its opponents to just 24 goals on 97 attempts.

Jensen had been most impressive in the effectiveness of her tackles. A strong, quick defender, she displayed the ability to control opponent breakaways and uses her tackling talent to slow or stop counterattacks. Jensen's hard work throughout the year paid off against Loyola-Chicago on Oct. 25, as she earned her first start of the season and just the third of her career.  In the game, Jensen and the Husker defenders held the Ramblers to just eight shots.

2005 Season

Jensen saw the field in 19 of the Huskers' 21 games in 2005 and made the first start of her career against Kansas on Sept. 30 and earned another start against Missouri in the next game. Jensen played a career-high 57 minutes against the Jayhawks, 23 more minutes than her previous career high. She continued to emerge through the season, logging a career-best 63 minutes in a non-conference match at Oral Roberts on Oct. 14.

Jensen benefited from being a part of the Kansas City Dynamos club team, which advanced to the national championships the summer before Jensen came to Nebraska. Nebraska forward Lauren Isenhower joined Jensen on that team.

The Leawood, Kan., native pushed forward and attempted the first shot of her career against San Diego State on Sept. 18, placing the shot on goal and forcing a save. She attempted three shots in the five games leading up to Nebraska's NCAA tournament berth.

High School
Jensen was the 2003 Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year for Blue Valley West, before missing her senior season with an injury. A two-time team co-captain, Jensen helped lead West to the Kansas 5A state title in 2002, and led her team in assists in 2003. In the classroom, Jensen was a four-year member of the honor roll and is a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students. She was also awarded the EKL Scholar-Athlete Award.

Other Information
Jensen teamed with fellow Husker freshman Lauren Isenhower on the six-time state champion Kansas City Dynamos club team. Jensen was also a member of the Olympic Development Program Region II squad from 2003 through 2005.

Personal Information
The daughter of Rick and Wendy Jensen, Kellie has two brothers, R.C., 20, and Jeff, 14. Kellie was born on Nov. 17, 1986. She has not declared a major at Nebraska.
