The Nebraska women's tennis team picked up a pair of commitments during the early signing period which allowed recruits to sign on Wednesday. Frederike Putthoff from Dinklage, Germany, and Maike Zeppernick from Hamburg, Germany, signed with the Huskers and will join the team in the Fall of 2010.

"We believe Maike and Frederike are perfect fits for our Husker family," NU Head Coach Scott Jacobson said. "Not only are they tremendous tennis players, but they are incredible young women who truly believe in our Husker philosophy."

Putthoff is currently the 46th-ranked player in Germany, making her the second-highest-ranked German player that Nebraska has ever signed. Zeppernick is currently ranked 146th in Germany, but has been as high as No. 104.

"We feel privileged and honored to have them joining our program in August of 2010," Jacobson said.
