A four-time letterwinner from Hersey, Neb., Janet Blomstedt captured one All-America honor and two conference titles in the combined events at Nebraska. She produced a stellar year as a sophomore in 1996, as she won the Big Eight indoor pentathlon title and was named an All-America heptathlete at the 1996 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Blomstedt again won the pentathlon title at the 1997 conference indoor meet, which was the inaugural Big 12 Indoor Championships. For her work in the classroom, she was named a First-Team Academic All-American in 1997. Following her junior season, Blomstedt completed two years of missionary work and then returned to the Huskers for the 2000 season. She graduated in 2000 with a degree in business administration.
